Visitors

Our friends Larry and Lori Beth Creasy, from St. Augustine, Florida, visited with Carolina Petanque players yesterday at Miller Park in Winston-Salem. It was their first time to play there, though they have played with us at the Lexington Barbecue Festival Tournament in Lexington.

Larry and Lori Beth are working their way north in order to participate in the upcoming Memorial Day weekend tournaments in Zanesfield, Ohio, on Saturday and Sunday. We were, of course, delighted that they were able to incorporate a stop in Winston-Salem into their trip.

Unfortunately, due to the ongoing situation with the unresolved drainage problems on the Miller Park petanque terrain,we were forced to hold Sunday's play on the bocce courts. The drainage on those courts is not an issue, but they are not ideal for petanque-- the surface is a little too soft which makes it too easy to point close to the jack most of the time.

Nevertheless, we had a nice turnout and lots of fun. Play continued from around 1:00 PM until almost 7:00. Afterwards, Shirley and I joined Larry, Lori Beth, Kerry, and Cherri for dinner at P.F. Chang's on Stratford Avenue, less than a couple of miles from the park. We visited and socialized until nearly 10:00 PM! Late supper-- great fun!
