Modified terrain at Miller Park

Shirley and I went about an hour early to Miller Park on Sunday in order to allow time to do a little pregame work on the terrain. As you can see from the pictures above, Winston-Salem Parks and Recreation has not yet solved our drainage problem, so we expected that, after several rainy days last week, there would be an issue. We managed to block off the end of the terrain where water accumulates with some PVC pipe and re-bar stakes. This left a playable, but shortened terrain which we decided to mark-off into three lanes based on the anticipated crowd.

It worked okay, but we look forward to a time when the area can be used in its entirety as planned. Shirley talked once again with Mr. Royston who continues to assure her that repairs are in the planning stage. Patience?
