Welcome, Tina Currie!

Awwwww, John's camera shy!
Tina

We had a pleasant surprise yesterday at Miller Park when a first-time-at Miller player walked up and introduced herself as a player from Austin, Texas. but now residing in Candor, NC. Tina Currie was steered our way by our good friend Ed Priest of the Austin, Texas, Legation Boules Club.

We hope we'll be seeing a lot of Tina in weeks to come. Her location is only about 50 miles from Greensboro-- probably less than an hour's drive-- so we hope she'll be able to visit there as well as Winston-Salem. Charlotte and Raleigh are a little farther, but maybe she can visit those venues from time-to-time as well.

Saturday morning in Morganton

We got to play in Morganton for the first time in a while on Saturday morning. Tracie was having a yard sale, David was in Oregon, and we also missed Ronnie, Jane, Susanne, John, Amber, Danny, Sue, Kathy, Kirk, Bo, Parker, and others of our more-or-less regular players, but we were glad to see Jeff, Steve, Juan, Marc, and Mike (Vail).

We're still playing on the maintenance road at Tanger Park in Greensboro, but not for much longer. The new venue at the top of the hill along the tree line is starting to take shape, First gravel next week?

Wednesday

We may need some coarse gravel in this slow-drain area (off court)
Shirley didn't get many pictures, but we did play on Wednesday morning at Miller Park.

Hickory

We got a call from Marc inviting us to play indoors at Hickory on Tuesday. As some of you may know, Tuesday is not one of our regular play dates, but, hey, why not? We made the drive over (about 70 miles!) and spent a great afternoon with Marc, Juan, Kathy, Tracie, and also got to meet Tracie's daughter, Charity.

Sunday play

July birthdays

We play all over the place, both in and out of the Carolinas, but we play most often at Miller Park in Winston-Salem, NC. It's about a 25 mile drive for us (when we're going from our home in Lexington) and we have quite a few regular players we can count on to be there.

Regular play in the summer is Wednesday morning at 9:30 and Sunday afternoon at 1:00. We try to never miss playing both these sessions unless we're traveling outside the Carolinas. (There are some Friday evening sessions as well-- whenever people are available. Shirley and I don't often attend because the timing doesn't fit with our schedules.)

If you're reading this, why not join us sometime? It's 2500 Queen Street in Winston-Salem. You can call Shirley's cell at 336-247-0436 to confirm that we're playing if you'd like.
