Shirley, Gary, Preston, Tess, Rom, Barb, Fred, Gail, Patrick, John W, Jack, Owen, Lucille, Anna, Jeff, Sam, Al, Heidi, Earl, Pam, Kirk, Bo, Parker, David, Ann, and Bob Moyer came out to play in Winston-Salem on Sunday afternoon. The crowd of twenty-six (26) was one of the largest of the year. We were still able to distance ourselves with the eight courts remaining after the AARP exercise facility replaced our old "sun courts."  Mask wearing remains near universal.

It would seem that the Covid season has many of us suffering from a little "cabin fever." That's the ONLY kind of fever we're happy with for sure.

We had quite a turnout yesterday at Miller Park, Gary, Shirley, Gail, John W, Jack, Patrick, Tina, Rom, Barb, Kerry, Sal, Preston, Tess, Nikki/David, Terry/Bridge/Liberty, Fred, and Bob showed up for a total of twenty. (Young Liberty played on the terrain with her dolls but did not play petanque. We inadvertently failed to get pictures of Nikki/David.)

Sal, Nikki/David, and Terry/Bridge/Liberty were walk-ups who live in the Miller Park area so we hope to see more of them in the future.

We tried to be aware of social distancing--no hugs, kisses, or handshakes-- and most people wore masks throughout the afternoon.

It's not the same as we're all used to, but it's still great seeing everyone.

Shirley and I finally made the decision to venture out for social play yesterday at Miller park in Winston-Salem. It was our first play, other than our own backyard court, since March in Florida. North Carolina is on Phase 2.5 of Covid-19 recovery which allows parks to be open.

We were still a little hesitant to test the waters, but it seemed to be okay. Only a couple of our players were not wearing a mask while playing, and petanque lends itself rather well to social distancing. The 8 players were Shirley, Gary, Preston, Michael, Gail, Rom, Fred, and Cherri. Tess, Anna, Jace, Nelson, and Rebekah attended but did not play. Tess and Anna were babysitting with Jace and Nelson/Bek did not play as she is still recuperating from surgery.

We had a great time and look forward to checking out the situation at some of our other Carolina venues soon, as the pandemic situation improves.
