June 15, 2014

Greta
Well, we had Nelson, Rebekah, Danny, Sue D, Terry, Sue W, James, Bob, Gail, Fred, Stump, Cheryl, Joseph, Tom, Carol, Shirley, Nicole, Matthew, Greta, Conroy, Krystal, Al, and myself (did I miss anyone?) yesterday afternoon at Miller Park for weekly play.

Most of you recognize all the above names, but a few are new, or nearly-new, to the group.  Stump and Cheryl's daughter, Nicole, joined us again for the first time in a while.  New to the group were Conroy (Nicole's fiancee) and his sister Krystal who, as it turns out, live only a few minutes from Nevin Park in Charlotte.

Joseph's grand-daughter, Greta, made her return appearance and was joined this time by her Dad, Matthew.  Nelson's friend, Al, also returned to the group this weekend.

Though not new, or even nearly-new, to the group, Tom and Carol rejoined us for the first time in quite a while.  They had been over to visit with Ronnie and Faye for Fathers' Day.  Ronnie couldn't be coaxed out into the June heat (and away from the U.S. Open Golf tournament on TV) to play, but we were glad to hear he's doing well.

As we get deeper into the Carolina summer, the pop-up sunshades and umbrellas are beginning to make their appearances.  So, don't let the heat keep you away.  Come on out and join the fun!

(Progress report:  Our new barbeque grill is still not ready, but may be installed by next Sunday.  We'll keep you aware.  We plan to do a cookout soon.)

(Upcoming special event:  The Wiens are planning a panache for their High Rock Lake home on June 28th.  Petanque and pizza.  Details to follow soon.)
