Friday night Rendezvous

After playing in Winston-Salem on Wednesday morning and Lincolnton on Thursday afternoon, we traveled northwest from Lincolnton to Asheville (about 95 miles) to play on Friday evening. Michel Baudouin's newest French restaurant, Rendezvous, is set to open in Asheville late fall/early winter, but their eight petanque courts are open for play now.

You can see the work-in-progress that's to become the restaurant in the background of these pictures. Michel's other restaurant, Bouchon, in downtown Asheville is already recognized for  the best French cuisine in the area, so everyone is looking forward to his new endeavor on New Haw Creek Road.

As it turned out, Michel was not able to be there on Friday evening, but his associate, and Carolina Petanque's Sport Director, Bill Cooke, hosted ably in his stead while Michel took a little downtime by going to the races at Road Atlanta road course.
