The Amelia Island Boule Club (AIBC) created 90 courts on the waterfront in Fernandina Beach for the 2024 edition of the annual Amelia Island Open.
This year's tournament followed the usual protocol of five qualifying games on Saturday which were played to 13 points or 60 minutes (plus one end), whichever came first.
The teams were then ranked into numerous brackets to begin play on Sunday. Sunday's first game was a final seeding factor before the beginning of Single Elimination play.
While I don't have all the results of Carolina Petanque teams, I do know that Preston Myers & Tess Whitlock won all five of their games on Saturday!
Neither Shirley nor I were actually playing this year, but we had a tremendous amount of fun seeing old friends, being spectators, and--a special treat--cheering on the play of Justin Bo Johns' daughters, Lucy and Ruby.
