B-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l day at Griffith Park!

It's really too bad that more of you can't join us routinely on our Wednesday morning play at Griffith Park in Winston-Salem.  The courts are in great shape-- just the right amount of roll and bounce for my taste.  It's also a little cooler in the morning this time of the year in the Carolinas.  We start play around 10:00 AM and usually wrap things up by 1:30 or 2:00.

Marcia and Rusty made the sacrifice to get up early and make the two hour drive from Deep Gap, NC, down to Winston-Salem just to play petanque with friends.  We're so glad that some of our members enjoy the game and the fellowship enough to travel long distances to play.  It's those people who make our club a success.

While we're passing out a little well-deserved praise, we want to recognize the W-S Parks and Recreation Department for responding to our request (Rebekah & Shirley) to consider shade requirements at the Griffith Park bocce/petanque courts.  We were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived this morning to find about ten or so new trees planted in the area.  They'll make a great addition and improvement to atmosphere and comfort at the facility.

We hope to be able to maintain a mutual benefit relationship with the Griffith Park personnel and look forward to continuing to play there on a regular basis.  With improvements being made both at Griffith and Miller parks, things are definitely on the upswing for Winston-Salem petanque!
