City Hall

Mayor Pelican (I know, but that's her name!)

Wednesday in Fernandina Beach saw us get in a little afternoon practice play before proceeding to City Hall for a Mayoral Proclamation before the city commissioners  recognizing some of Philippe's recent contributions to the city.  The mayor thanked him for being instrumental in bringing petanque, carillon bells, touring cars, and tall ships to the city.  It sounded like Philippe was citizen of the year to me!

His acceptance speech was delivered in fine fashion.  He told the crowd that he had been taught as a child that it was best to share your nice things with others if you wanted to get the most enjoyment from them.  He then stated that Fernandina Beach was now one of the nicest things in his life, and he wanted to be able to share it with as many people as possible-- thus his efforts to do anything within his power to promote the city.  Great speech!
