There were 44 teams for five qualifying rounds on Saturday. Carolina Petanque's Carol Verdile teamed with multi-time World Champion France's Marco Foyot to earn the top seed,winning all five games.
The team of Wilfried Afopa and Neal Linhart (both from Dallas, TX, club) also won all five games and qualified 2nd.
The breakdown for Sunday's play was set at: 16 teams in Group A, 16 teams in Group B, and 12 teams in Group C. The first game of the day on Sunday determines who plays in Concours vs. Consolante in each of the three groups.
