The
3rd annual Lexington Barbecue Festival Petanque Tournament
was held Sunday at Finch Park in Lexington. The event drew fifty-six
players from Ohio, Maryland, New York, Florida, Virginia, Louisiana, Texas,
South Carolina, and North Carolina.
The
winning team was made up of Mohamed Boulahoual of Cincinnati, OH, and
Justin Bo Johns of Zanesfield, OH. They defeated the team of Teng Ly
of Newton, NC, and Khalid Mesbah of Charlotte, NC. Tied for third
place were Danny and Sue Daniels of Crossnore, NC, along with Gary
and Shirley Jones of Lexington.

In
the consolation bracket of the event, the winning team was made up of
Marc Quilici and Juan Hernandez of Hickory, NC. They defeated the
team of Rusty and Marcia Reed of Deep Gap, NC. Tied for third place
were Marie Russo and Ellen Lucas of St. Augustine, FL, along with
Earl Lovell of Austin, TX, and Trevor Lovell of Richmond, VA.
