The 2010 version of CarolinaPetanque's club tournament was a Members Only Select Doubles competition. We had eleven teams competing in a full day of play. There were four qualifying rounds, followed by single elimination brackets in both Consolante and Concours classes. The top seven teams after qualifying rounds participated in Concours; the other four in Consolante.
The winners of the Consolante were Augustine Quilici and Juan Hernandez from Hickory, North Carolina. Runners-up were Terry and Sue Wien from Lexington, North Carolina.
The winners in Concours were Gary and Shirley Jones, also from Lexington. Runners-up were Walt Elder (Banner Elk, NC) and Khalid Mesbah (Concord, NC).
As noted in the previous blog posting, the event generated nine (9) new members for the club. New members came from Leesville and Pageland, South Carolina, and several North Carolina towns, including Wadesboro and Hickory.
We plan to try doing the same event again next year-- that's an indication of how well things went this year.

Whoo-Hoo! Way to go taking 1st place, Mom and Dad! :) Better be careful winning the Grand Prize on your "HOME" court - people will be suspicious! :) Hee! Hee! Congrats - Lynda.
