Saturday, November11, 2023, saw 179 doubles teams, 358 petanque players, competing in five rounds of play at Fernandina Beach, Amelia Island, Florida, in the 2023 edition of the Amelia Island Open.
The largest petanque tournament in the United States draws competitors from all over the US and beyond. Each year many of the worlds finest players make the journey to compete.
The tournament not only boasts excellent play, it also provides many people with a once-a-year opportunity to reunite with the hundreds of friends they have made within the petanque community.
Here are the rankings after Saturday's five rounds of qualifying play. Carolina Petanque's best-performing team was Parker Edwards/Uijin Park with a 19th place (won all five games!) finish out of the 179 teams.
