Two of the teams to watch are Lori Beth Creasy/Honor Woodard and Shannon Hodge/Gina Teator as they compete Sunday for the Women's Doubles World Qualifier in Portland, Oregon.

Lori Beth is from the Boules de Leon club in St. Augustine, Florida, and is paired with Carolina Petanque's own Honor Woodard. The two of them  finished in third place in a field of fourteen teams Saturday in the qualifying rounds.

Nipping at their heels, finishing fourth Saturday, were Shannon Hodge/Gina Teator. Shannon is, along with Shirley, one of our two Mid-America FPUSA counselors and plays out of the Zanesfield Petanque Club in Ohio. Gina has been a star player in Maine, Florida, and now resides in Virginia.

The winning team in Oregon will go on to represent the USA in the World Championships to be held in Denmark.

Best of luck to ALL the players in Sunday's event! Shirley and I are friends with almost all of the 28 women players and know the competition will be intense.
