Virginia Highlands Park in Arlington, VA (/Washington, D.C.)

Beautiful setting in the trees

Nice Soccer complex too
Several of us decided to make a road trip to D.C. to play with Jamil Sopher's National Capital Club. Khalid, Bill Cooke, Nelson, Rebekah, Shirley, and I went to play in the Mid-America Regional Select Doubles. Honor Woodard from Clayton, Georgia, also made the trip to play as Shirley's partner.

Kirk, Bo, and Parker had planned to make the trip, but Kirk's grandmother (Kaye Taliana's mom) passed away on Tuesday, May 1. Our condolences to Kirk, Bo, Parker, Kaye, Ronnie Thompson, and Anne Thompson on their loss.

We were surprised when we arrived at the terrain to find that there seemed to be only five courts set up for play. Since we were expecting a field of 24 doubles teams, we could not figure out how they would be able to accommodate such a large group, Of course, they knew what they were doing and had made arrangements to use two nearby softball fields on Saturday for the tournament.
