Boules, Bluegrass, and Barbecue

Balsam Range
From Austin,Texas, to Spruce Pine, NC

Kristi, Sue, Sandy, and Bo

Angela

The Edwards family, Kirk, Bo, and Parker, invited the group to join them over the weekend in Spruce Pine for the town's annual barbecue festival.  We drove up to visit Danny and Sue in Crossnore, so, the four of us made the trip on over to Spruce Pine to join the festivities.  A Texas friend of ours, Sandy Boone, happened to be visiting family in Athens, Georgia.  She made the 3 1/2 hour drive up to join s as well.

We played petanque at the Edwards home starting around 10:00 AM on Saturday.  Around lunch time the entire gang took the short walk from the terrain to the downtown area where we had lunch at The Knife and Fork, a well-known Spruce Pine dining establishment.

The afternoon saw some of us enjoying the bluegrass music on the main stage, some shopping and sightseeing, and some returning to the terrain to continue petanque.  We played until almost the 8:00 PM starting time for the evening's headline group, Balsam Range.  Those of us who saw the band perform came away very impressed with the quality of the music.  It was all a great time.  Our thanks go out to the Edwards family for hosting.
