Hello from France

 

Kirk, Bo, and Parker journeyed to France again this summer. Here are a few pics I retrieved from Bo's Facebook postings. I'm sure this is on the dream list of quite a few USA petanque players--a trip to the birthplace of the game and participation in Le Mondial la Marseillaise a Petanque--the worlds largest petanque tournament.

John and Mary Jo sent a snapshot from Blue Hill, Maine. They were able to play a little bit on the boatyard terrain with our friends Andre Strong, Cynthia Stroud, and others. Check it out if you're ever up that way.

Our morning session at Tanger Gardens (1105 Hobbs Rd, Greensboro) saw the return of Rich after his recent heart surgery. He looked great and, though he only watched, we'll see him playing again soon.

4th of July

 

Fred Marchant treated Rom, Gail, Shirley, and me to a baseball game and fireworks on the 4th. The Winston-Salem Dash played the Hickory Crawdads.

Not only did Fred provide free tickets, but they included free refreshments! We splurged on peanuts, popcorn, hot dogs, hamburgers, sodas, and beer.

Wow! Thanks, Fred. It was GREAT!

Miller Park in the summer

 

We had a great turnout for the start of summer play in Winston-Salem. 

We got to see Ed, Anne, Rob, and Steve Shoaf on Sunday. Ed and Anne are regular players in Charlotte, Rob is a regular player in Winston-Salem, and Steve, who lives in Asheville,  joined us for first time.

Preston had his water misting device up and running, so that will be greatly appreciated in the coming summer heat.

Marc and Kathy came over from Hickory with a selection of Petanque America's boules for people to see.

Congratulations to Gail Dickerson--she bought her first set of competition boules and we look forward to having her ass a regular player.

Our good friend Rusty Reed passed away after a battle with leukemia on June 22, 2023.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, July 16. at 2:00 PM in:
