Carolina Petanque member and Area Coordinator for Miller Park in Winston-Salem, Preston Meyers, fabricated a fine-mist device for these hot summer days. It was a big hit on a Sunday when we had bright, sunny weather both before and after being interrupted by a twenty minute rain storm.

Not all of the crowd remained through the rain delay, but those who did were able to play several more games up until about five-thirty.

Thursday-- Greensboro

 

Another really nice crowd for Tanger Gardens (1105 Hobbs Rd) in Greensboro. John and Mary Jo brought grandsons Owen (a new junior member of Carolina Petanque!) and Jack (already a member). In addition, two granddaughters, Lucille and Eleanor were there, and Mary Jo's ister, Nancy, played for the first time.

Birthdays in July

 

Someone came up with the idea of having a cookout at Miller Park preceding our regular Sunday afternoon play, and the fact that several of us have birthdays in July was a good enough reason to make it happen.

Rebekah, Shirley, Rom, and I all have July birthdays and were happy to celebrate with our petanque friends. Unfortunately, Bek and Nelson couldn't be there, but we recognized her in absentia.

Friday evening play in Lincolnton

 

We invited Marc and Kathy down for late afternoon-early evening play on our backyard terrain in Lincolnton on 7/23. It was great to see the two of them back here in Lincolnton--probably since pre-pandemic days when they were last here.

Two excellent games. Marc won with Kathy; then, Marc won with me. He's getting to be a very difficult guy to beat these days. but both games were very close.

We look forward to some more Lincolnton play while the weather is good. Early evening gives us a great shaded play area.

Greensboro play 7/22/2021

 

Our 9:30 AM start time due to the hot weather seems to be working out well. We continue to have nice crowds and are able to get 2 to 3 games in before the heat gets too bad. Thanks to all the regulars and welcome to our new players!
