Last play before tournament weekend

Our old terrain

Wednesday morning play at Miller Park in Winston-Salem offered a chance for more practice before people start arriving in Lexington on Thursday for the 2017 5th Annual Lexington Barbecue Festival Petanque Tournament.

Since the morning was rather cool-- high 40s-- we chose to play on our old terrain which has more sun.  It was the first time since the new courts were built that we played on the old ones. We had almost forgotten how much we enjoyed them. If not for the drainage problems, I'm sure we would never have thought we needed new courts.

We also had a pleasant surprise-- one of original founding members, Josh Moyer, came out to play for the first time in over six years. Now that Josh has a revived interest in petanque, we hope to see him frequently. He and his dad, Bob, are even planning to play together in our upcoming tournament. Great news indeed!
