Women's World Champioships, Kaihua, China, 2017

France: 2017 World Champions

TEAM USA improved their score again in Round 4, but still lost to New Caledonia by 9-13. A BYE in Round 5 gave the USA a 13-7 win, so the end of Swiss System qualifying saw TEAM USA with a 1-4 won/lost record; thus, they were relegated to the Nation's Cup for continued play. They played well in that tournament, winning against the Czech Republic 11-10, then winning again against Indonesia 10-6. In the Round of Sixteen, TEAM USA lost to the ultimate winners of the Nation's Cup, Malaysia, by a score of 5-13 to end their quest for the Nation's Cup. We applaud Gina, Shannon, Shirley, and Tish's efforts in their grand adventure and are very proud of them for representing USA women's petanque on the world stage,

The women of France were the Champions in the World Cup, beating Madagascar 13-6. They are World Champions after 23 years without a title. Congratulations to Charlotte Darodes, Angélique Colombet, Anna Maillard and Caroline Bourriau, Women's World Champions of Petanque 2017!
