Let's see, there was Ken, Laurence, Jeff, Steve, Jane, Kathleen, John, Holly, Tina, Mary  Jo, Nahomie, Paul, Laju, Pat, Katie, Ann, Alice, Carolyn, Brenda, Rich, Sandy, Roman, Judy, Mel, Shirley, and Gary.

Plus three walk-ups right at the end of the day who threw a few boules and promised to come back soon. Sorry, I didn't get their names.

Tanger Gardens' petanque is BOOMING!

Social play in Morganton

Petanquers all!

Yes, that's Carolina Petanque member (and Mayor of Morganton) Ronnie Thompson on the left.

Guess who???

Tina makes a new friend.

No. It wasn't petanque, but it was petanquers at play--and at work! Jeff Stark had made us aware of the downtown celebration to be held on Saturday afternoon. Though Shirley and I had played in Charlotte on Saturday morning, we made the trip west to attend.

There was a band: Continental Divide and food and beer! Party!!!

Nevin Park on Tournament Day

SYLVIA

Thierry, Guillaume, and Chris

Sylvia and Isobel

No. It was not a petanque tournament. We were taken by surprise to be stopped upon entering Nevin Park (6000 Statesville Rd) for our routine 3rd Saturday play. The attendants at the gate informed us that the park was closed to the general public due to a Pro Disc Golf tournament having the entire park reserved.

We usually see local disc golf players during our monthly play, but this was different. We were told that there were pro players from all over the world competing for a first place prize of $35,000!

Wow!

They were nice enough to grant us entrance, even though it appeared dicey for a while. Shirley played the diplomat and explained our situation.

We had a great group of players, several of whom were new to our venue. Thierry, Isobel, and Chris were first-timers with us and Sylvia returned after having played with us once before. We're hoping all of them may become regulars.

John brings home another medal!

For the second time in recent weeks, John Wilson was able to show up for weekly play in Greensboro (Tanger Gardens, 1105 Hobbs Rd) with a BRONZE medal.

First, from a few weeks ago, he won (along with Marc Quilici and Juan Hernandez) the Atlanta Select Triples tournament.

Then, John, Marc, and Juan won the BRONZE at the National Men's Triples in Morganton on October 8th.

CONGRATULATIONS!
