Carolina Petanque had three teams competing in the FPUSA National Mixed Triples tournament in Sanford, FL, at the Oh La La Petanque Club.
Shirley Jones/Sue Wien/Terry Wien were seeded 12 of 19 teams after three qualifying rounds. They then defeated the strong number 5 seeded Florida team of Jerome/Fabien/Claudia to advance to the quarter-finals of the Concours. They were eliminated by another strong (number 4 seed after qualifying) Florida team of Frederic/Michelle/Alain.
The Carolina teams of Cary Wien/Mary Nicolai/Don Baker and Maggie Sweeney/Rick Sweeney/Danny Daniels played in the Consolante as number 2 and number 3 Consolante seeds, respectively; however, both teams lost in the first round of elimination play.
Sue Daniels and I both attended but did not play making a total of eleven Carolina Petanque members attending.
Gilles Canesse/Barbie Crowder/Salem Touati won the Consolante, defeating Jerry/Honor/Rene.
