Indoor petanque comes to North Carolina!

Marc Quilici, managing partner of SLIP LLC, a manufacturer of lamps and ceramics in Hickory, NC, has converted some available space in a warehouse to what we believe to be North Carolina's first indoor petanque terrain. Marc has been in business there for around sixteen years and has been a member of Carolina Petanque for around eleven years.

Shirley and I made the drive over to Hickory on Monday, April 22, and joined Marc, Juan, Tracie, and Susanne for mixed triples. Marc and Juan, along with Kathy, will be playing as a mixed triples team in Atlanta Petanque League's first-ever FPUSA title tournament on April 28th. Kathy had work commitments on Monday, and Susanne volunteered as a capable replacement.

Shirley and Tracie will also be playing along with their teammate, Mamy Ranaivoson, from the Zanesfield, OH, club in the Atlanta tournament. For the practice session, I filled in for Mamy's role as the team pointer.

The terrain is very firm and plays great. We look forward to playing there often, especially in less-than-ideal outdoor conditions.
