Shirley and I drove to Miller Park in Winston-Salem on Saturday to string the courts for the Mid America Men's and Women's Doubles tournaments coming up over Labor Day weekend.

Marc invited us to Hickory for indoor play on Friday. It's really great to have a place to play regardless of the weather. Both of his two courts stayed busy

Stormy weather in Greensboro

Mike House before the storm

We drove the 45 minutes from Lexington to Greensboro to play at the new Tanger Gardens terrain only to be forced to give up play after about thirty minutes due to a sudden thunderstorm. Too bad. One of our Celo players, Mike House, was there for the first time, so it made it doubly bad to pack it in because of weather.

Tournaments draw near

As the Mid America Men's and Women's Doubles tournaments draw near, we begin to see a few people out practicing who haven't been in a while. Also, we were happy to be joined by one of the proprietors Hosts of the Burke Manor Inn in  Gibsonville. Lil hopes to join us from time to time as his busy work schedule allows.

3rd Saturday in August

This year it seems as though the Nevin Park (6000 Statesville Rd, Charlotte) once-a-month play rolls around quickly. Guess we've just been keeping busy. Our friends from Texas, Earl and Pam, are staying with us in Lexington for the upcoming Mid America Doubles tournaments (Sept 1, at Miller Park in Winston-Salem), so they joined us for their first time at Nevin Park.
