Saturday, 11/12/2022--Day 2 of Amelia Island Open

Saturday play consisted of five qualifying rounds (Select Doubles) of 60 minutes (+1 end) timed games (or 13 points). There were 158 teams this year, so there were 79 active courts for each round!

Carolina Petanque had about 19 players and around 8 or so attending in support, so we were well represented.

The top-qualifying CPC team was Tracie Jeffries/Mike Owens who finished 3&2 with a good enough point differential to put them ranked #45 out of the 158 teams. Maybe not as good as we would have hoped, but not too bad to finish in the upper third of the field. Congratulations, Tracie and Mike!

Great fun to see some of the world's best players in action!

By the way the German team of  Laukart/Backens ranked #1 winning all five of their games and only giving up ONE POINT total in their five games!!! Who got that one point? None other than Carolina's Marc Quilici and Juan Hernandez!
