Memorial Day in Small Town America

We spent Memorial Day 2017 in Zanesfield, Ohio, as has been our custom for several years. There is a parade downtown to celebrate the lives lived by those who ultimately gave their all for their country. Then, a good portion of the town's inhabitants walk the half mile or so down the street to the cemetery for a more solemn remembrance of those who sacrificed for our freedom. There are speeches, the local marching band plays, there is a 21 guun salute, and wreaths are placed.

The remainder of the day included pancake breakfast, native American reenactments, festival food, and, of course, petanque.

Thanks to Zanesfield Petanque Club for hosting. It was fun.
