We traveled down to Athens, GA, home of the U. Ga. Bulldogs and the Le Boule Dawgs petanque club, to play in their first Le Classic Cup tournament on Saturday.  Larry and Tammy Hendrix, Carolina Petanque members from North Augusta, South Carolina, also made the trip.

In addition to the two teams from CP, Le Boule Dawgs fielded ten teams of their own, so we had a bracket of twelve teams.  The format was double-elimination, open-select doubles. 

The Boule Dawgs are mostly young college students, grad students, and faculty from the University of Georgia.  It was a real pleasure to mix and mingle with such a welcoming, hospitable group.  We had made the trip with the goal of making a few new petanque friends who might be encouraged to join us in some inter-club play, both in Georgia and the Carolinas, in the future.
