We were surprised with a Tanger Gardens visit by Marc and Juan from Petanque America in Hickory on Wednesday. Marc hand-delivered some new boules to Jim Clapper and Frank Bocci also found a new set to his liking.

Also, a couple of new-to-the-group players, Beth and Jurgen(sp?), players joined is for the first of  what nay be many times.

Originally from  Germany, they are now Greensboro residents, so we hope they will be regulars.

One more thing of note--the Greensboro group is now playing regularly three times a week.

You can join them on Mondays at 5:30 PM, as well as on Wednesdays and Fridays at 9:30 AM.

We had nine players. Ed, Anne, Eric, Lydie, Denyse, Shirley, and Gary were joined by Shane & Christelle--new players recruited by Eric & Lydie.

They were a joy to meet and play with, and we hope to see a lot more of them in the future.

By the way, a little further to the east, Bob & Kaye also host play on the 3rd Saturday of each month behind the Wine Authority at:

211 E Franklin St, Raleigh, NC.

Paul recently moved from Greensboro to The Villages in Florida. He sent a snapshot of petanque play there. We'll miss him here in Carolina, but we wish him all the best as he begins this new phase of life in Florida.

The 2023 version of the FPUSA Mid-America Select Triples was held at RendezVous in Asheville, North Carolina, on Sunday, August 13, 2023.

There were 16 triples teams participating (maximum terrain capacity) with players from North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Ohio, and the District of Columbia.

Thanks to Michel Baudouin, owner of RendezVous, for hosting the event. It's an excellent venue for petanque.

Thanks to Petanque America for being the supplier of boules and equipment for petanque players in the USA. They also gave away some laser-engraved jacks as souvenirs of the event. (Thanks to Preston Meyers for doing the engraving.)

Thanks to all who participated in the organizing.
