Eight teams came up from Atlanta to RendezVous French Retaurant in Asheville, owned by Michel Baudouin, to play against a select group of players comprised mostly of Carolina Petanque members on Saturday, April 22, 2023.
The Asheville group has advised that this type competition is to occur on an annual basis in the spring of each year, ideally to rotate venues between Asheville and Atlanta. However, there has been some discussion that the spring of 2024 event may once again be held at RendezVous since the Atlanta Petanque League currently does not have a dedicated venue from which to host.
Here were the Asheville teams playing on Saturday:

After four rounds of play on Saturday, the Asheville group had won 17 games and lost 15. So, they are up by two games going into Sunday play.

There were four more rounds of play on Sunday. This time the results were different. The Atlanta teams rallied to win Sunday's play by a margin of four games 18 to 14. That gave them the overall victory by a score of 33 to 31. Thus allowing them possession of the CUP for a year.
Congratulations!
