Sunday morning coming down
After playing in Charlotte on Saturday, Shirley and I traveled the 40 odd miles on west to our Lincolnton home to do a little yard work and check on things over that way. We stayed over Saturday night and the two of us got in a little one-on-one six-boules play Sunday morning. Two games. I won't mention who won for fear of embarrassing someone.

Saturday in the park...
Marcia on the petanque terrain. Shade did not last long however. |

We started Saturday morning play at 9:00 AM on the petanque terrain, finally dry after the recent rains, but only lasted one game before the group wanted to move over to the shaded bocce courts. Even with a sun shelter, a large umbrella, and the early start time, it's just too hot for a lot of people in August in NC.
The bocce courts are over near the tree line and remain mostly shaded until at least noonish-- sometimes until one. So that's where we ended up playing. Guess we're stuck with that for a while yet.

Today at Griffith Park
We only had six players this morning at Griffith Park, but that was plenty for a fun morning and close, challenging games.
We were pleased to have a Parks & Rec intern, Colby, join in for a game. He seemed to be a natural. Although Colby, James, and I lost to Tom, Cherri, and Shirley, it was only 13-11.

Saturday morning at Miller Park
We continued with our "Hot Weather Schedule" by playing at 9:00 AM on Saturday morning as opposed to our usual Sunday afternoon play at Miller Park in Winston-Salem, NC.
We were very happy to have Rusty/Marcia all the way from Deep Gap and Gerard/Monique all the way from Charlotte.
Rusty/Marcia got their first NPL doubles win against Gerard/Monique in a very close game. Good job, both teams!
