The headcount reached 26 throughout the 11/23/2025, Sunday, afternoon panache at the Celo community (Burnsville, NC).

HUGE THANKS to Carolina Petanque Club's Sport Director, Mike House, for arranging the event and serving as Tournament Director.

...and to the entire group of Celo regular players for extending their hospitality and making us all welcome.

Celo is one of our most remote venues, but they still manage to have  regular play three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays beginning at 3:00 PM (current hours that will have seasonal variances).

We drove from our Lexington, NC, home up to Miller Park in Winston-Salem where we met up with John Wilson who drove Shirley, Janet, and me for about 2 1/2 hrs northwest into the Carolina mountains for the days play.

Since it was a special event, play began at 1:00 PM and continued to 5:00 PM. Max & Shirley took first prize, and Mike &  I managed to finish second.

It was an afternoon of fun and friendship that perfectly represents the reason we are willing to make a six hour, or so, round-trip drive to be with "our people"!

11/19/2025 Weather is still great

Looks as though real winter weather might still be a ways off in the Carolinas. Good crowds are playing at all our venues. These pictures were at Tanger Gardens in Greensboro.

Preston's TOP GOBBLERS

Rom Still was the day's champion player

(Left to Right)

1st place--Rom

2nd place--Mike (only been playing a few weeks!)

3rd place--Terry

4th place--Janet (made a good showing for the ladies!)

5th place--Chris

6th place--Jim

Preston Myers, Area Coordinator for the Miller Park (Winston-Salem) venue, acted as producer and director for a pre-Thanksgiving meal and panache on Sunday.

Many thanks to all who contributed to the meal. Turkey and fixin's were enjoyed by everyone!

The panache was a simple affair--three timed games with draws for new partners each round, and simplified scoring with number of wins determinant, and point differential (delta) as the tie-breaker.

We had 32(?) players and quite a few family members attending as spectators. We were especially glad to have FPUSA president, Kirk Edwards, and his wife Bo make the drive down the mountains from their Spruce Pine home for the event.

Preston provided unique 3-D printed "medals" to the top six finishers.

Fun-by-the-ton!!!
