Just wanted to let everyone know that the pétanque courts at Pullen Park in Raleigh are complete. I went by yesterday to drop off their order of boules from Pétanque America and the courts look great!
The courts’ usage will be $7 to reserve them for 1 hour and that would include equipment (boule) rental. If the courts aren’t reserved then they are free to use.
There are 3 courts, but they are approximately 26 meters in length so could easily be set for 6 courts. Looking forward to playing with you guys on them soon!
The park staff is also very interested in hosting a clinic to teach people the game. I’ll work with them on setting a date for this soon. They will advertise it in the Raleigh Parks Department newsletter when we get it scheduled. They seem very keen on growing the sport in Raleigh. We should all congratulate Bob [and Kaye!] on this accomplishment!
I was made aware by Bob that Pullen Park is
putting on a community outreach event on April 2nd. They would like to have as
many pétanque players there as possible to demonstrate/teach. Holly and I will
be there. I know it’s a haul for many of you but anyone who can make it would
be greatly appreciated!
